Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR) is Sri Lanka’s first investigative journalism center aimed at promoting excellence in investigative journalism within Sri Lanka and the South Asian region.
Our key objectives and current work include: produce high quality investigative stories;
contribute to development of a highly skilled and ethical community of investigative journalists;
support investigative journalists and investigative journalism initiatives; undertake collaborative investigative story-telling in partnership with South Asia’s IJ centers and journalists; deliver investigative journalism training; contribute to the advancement of media literacy in investigative journalism by offering certificate courses in collaboration with media institutions band universities; the promotion of the use of tools such as access to information and other relevant laws, data, mobile and artificial intelligence for investigative story-telling.
We focus on both skills enhancement and development of investigative story content that
primarily focuses on issues that go missing in the media, promote transparency and
