The Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR) is Sri Lanka’s first investigative journalism center aimed at promoting excellence in investigative journalism within Sri Lanka and South Asia.
CIR’s key objectives include: produce high quality investigative stories; contribute to development of a highly skilled and ethical community of investigative journalists; support investigative journalists and investigative journalism initiatives; undertake collaborative investigative story-telling in partnership with South Asia’s IJ centers and journalists; deliver investigative journalism training; contribute to the advancement of media literacy in investigative journalism by offering certificate courses in collaboration with media institutions and universities; the promotion of the use of tools such as access to information and other relevant laws, data, mobile and artificial intelligence for investigative story-telling.
CIR focuses on skills enhancement and development of investigative journalism content that primarily focuses on issues that go missing in the media, promote transparency and accountability.
