Registration open: CIR and UNDP jointly launch media literacy initiative

The Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Colombo will conduct a countrywide series of virtual training workshops under CIR’s Media Literacy Foundations initiative from mid-May, a program promoting information literacy among journalists and concerned citizens.

Each workshop will include two sessions and will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English.

Participants will be offered foundational training on media literacy in a bid to improve information literacy in the country and to take information literacy tools and understanding beyond the community of journalists.  The program is designed to empower media content developers and media consumers with integrity tools and to promote ethical components of the craft.  The program will train 300 participants including journalists, media students, citizen journalists, media educators, bloggers, visual-story tellers and media consumers.
