The Future of Journalism South Asia webinar series – Webinar on Elevating Journalism Standards

An expert panel ready to virtually meet journalists on September 15th

The Center for Investigative Reporting Sri Lanka and Media Unlimited Pakistan, supported by Meta Journalism Project will be hosting a webinar on September 15, 2022 themed ‘Elevating Journalism Standards’.


Renowned speakers from the region will join as panelists to share their expertise with the participating journalists. From Bangladesh, the Executive Director and founder of Center for Communication Action Bangladesh, Syed Zain Mahmood, an award-winning journalist and expert media professional, will be joining the panel of speakers. Mahmood with an over a decade of experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams in international and national development organization is working with the powers of information and communication for social change. Editor of Digital Properties at Aaj TV Mahim Maher will be joining from Pakistan. Maher, a renowned journalist with experience in multi-media platforms is armed with international and national experience in journalism. Deepanjalie Abeywardana, the head of media research, of Verité Research, Sri Lanka, will join the speaker panel to share her extensive expertise on media ethics, media behavior and women and media. Abeywardana has worked with a wide range of local and international stakeholders, media practitioners in understanding and reviewing media, media ownership and its role in changing societies.


The recipient of International Communication Excellence Award 2020, an internationally acclaimed media researcher, trainer, media rights advocate and communication strategist, Chairperson of Media Action Nepal Laxman Datt Pant will be moderating the expert panel in this webinar.


This event is a part of a series of webinars initiated in July 2022 under the theme ‘The Future of Journalism South Asia’ organized with the support from Meta Journalism Project.
