Intensive training on investigative reporting and fact-checking for Maldivian journalists.
The Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR), Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Addu Women’s Association (AWA), calls for applications from Maldivian journalists for an intensive four day training program on media literacy foundations and fact-checking.
The initiative intends to create a core group of well-trained journalists able to undertake investigative reporting, counter disinformation, and promote collaborative journalism in the Maldives.
The training sessions will cover journalism ethics, fundamentals of investigative reporting, public service journalism, and fact-checking. English will be the language of instruction; instructor led sessions will be delivered online.
Applicants are required to duly fill the online application form and upload two work samples or story links.
Selected 25 journalists will receive mentoring support by a panel of senior mentors from Sri Lanka and the Maldives for development of stories.
Following the training, participants are required to publish one fact-checked, in-depth story.
