Investigative Journalism Fellowships 2020
The Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR) is calling for applications from Sri Lankan journalists who are keen to undertake investigative stories employing verification methods and tools.
The aim of the fellowship program is to promote investigative journalism and the use of verification tools to counter disinformation through in-depth reporting.
The story pitches should have a strong element of verification, undertaken in the public interest. There is no restriction on the topics and collaborations are encouraged. Applications can be in Sinhala, Tamil and English languages.
Applicants are required to duly fill the online application form and upload two samples of their in- depth reports/or add story links in support of the application.
There will be a compulsory orientation program conducted by CIR before the 15 fellowship winners undertake a two-month long reporting assignment. They are required to work closely with a senior editor who will guide them on the development of their stories.
An independent panel will select the winners using specific pitch evaluation criteria. Each will be eligible for a single story grant within the range of LKR 50,000- 75,000.
Women journalists are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applications should reach not later than 27 November 2020.
