Fellowship for in-depth reporting on South Asia, South Asian diaspora [Worldwide]

Journalists interested in covering South Asia or the South Asian diaspora can apply for this fellowship.

The South Asian Journalists Association‘s SAJA Reporting Fellowship (SRF) seeks to support in-depth reporting projects focused on South Asia or the South Asian diaspora. The fellowship is open to both freelancers and staff journalists across all media formats.

Each project is eligible for funding between US$2,000 and US$5,000, with a total of up to US$20,000 awarded annually.

Applicants must secure a letter of interest from a U.S. or Canadian media outlet, as the final work must be published, aired or posted online by a North American publication or broadcaster.

Applications are evaluated based on the project’s relevance, originality and potential impact. Preference is given to stories that address underreported issues and offer fresh perspectives on South Asia or its diaspora.
